MYERSVILLE, MD – June 1, 2010 – In honor of Yeardley Love, the University of Virginia student and Baltimore area resident that tragically died May 3, Musket Ridge Golf Club is donating 100% of green fees from its 1 pm tee times in June. All proceeds will be donated to the Yeardley Love Women’s Lacrosse Scholarship Fund.
Yeardley Love wore the number 1 jersey on the UVA women’s lacrosse team. 1 pm tee times start at $75 and additional donations will be welcomed. In the event more than one group wants the 1 pm tee time Musket Ridge will accept bids to raise more money.
Charlottesville, VA-based Affinity Management operates Musket Ridge and has many ties to the University of Virginia, including an intern who is affiliated with the UVA Lacrosse program.
Damon DeVito, managing director of Affinity, said, “We wanted to do something in light of this terrible situation. Hopefully this will contribute to Ms. Love’s memory and in turn, increase awareness about domestic abuse.”
The Yeardley Love Women's Lacrosse Scholarship Fund will annually provide a full scholarship for a member of the UVA women's lacrosse team, of which Love was a member. To donate directly to the Fund, please visit https://www.formstack.com/forms/VAF-YLMSF.
